26 November 2008

Eastbourne's action-packed Go Fast! Speed Days Downhill Skateboarding event is still making news around the world as it features in top US skate magazine, Concrete Wave.

The resort's newest event has created groundbreaking PR coverage worldwide and is still making headlines even this week as the World Series event including the UK leg, which was held in Eastbourne, receive a three-page feature in Concrete Wave Magazine.

Eastbourne hosted the UK stage of the World Downhill Skateboarding Championships in September and has wracked up top billing on the home page of YouTube, BBC Breakfast, Blue Peter, Facebook and Myspace.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said "It is astonishing that this event is still making headlines and being talked about almost three months after it happened. The PR value of this event is tremendous and it's very rewarding to be able to get Eastbourne's name out there around the world."

The latest coverage highlights the fantastic weather Eastbourne enjoyed over the three day event and the resurfaced road, which provided perfect skating conditions for the gravity racers.

With videos of the event attracting over a million hits on video sharing website, YouTube, Go Fast! Speed Days is still proving extremely popular.

Eastbourne Borough Council who works closely with the International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA), UKGSA and Go Fast Sports to stage the event are already looking forward to next year.

Go Fast! Speed Days has already been confirmed to return to Beachy Head for the third year running from 18-20 September 2009 and adrenaline-junkies should put the date in their diaries now. Downhill skateboarders, luge racers, gravity bikers, and inline skaters are all set to return to compete in the British leg of the World Championships.
